Bryson DeChambeau calls for physio to work on injured hip amid Saturday charge at Pinehurst
Bryson DeChambeau made an electrifying charge up the leaderboard on Saturday at the 2024 U.S. open. When he wasn’t laying on his back, that is.
As he made the turn in one under par during the third round at Pinehurst No. 2, DeChambeau called for a trainer. NBC’s Jim “Bones” Mackay reported that the 2020 U.S. Open champ has had torn ligaments in both hips for some time, and that he had gotten “tight.”
That said, his hips looked fine as DeChambeau uncorked another bomb on No. 10 leading to a birdie. Then he had some work done on him by the physio off to the side of the 11th tee.
DeChambeau requested cameras stay away, but NBC shot drone footage in which you can see him on the ground being worked on:

Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis reported something similar to Mackay on Twitter:
Just spoke with @b_dechambeau team that’s walking with him during the 3rd round of the @usopengolf. Was told he woke up with discomfort in his right hip this morning. Has been treated on the course. Was told by rules official Bryson is allowed two five minute treatment sessions.

Our Luke Kerr-Dineen wrote about how important DeChambeau’s hips are to his power on Friday. The LIV star is averaging 337.8 yards off the tee this week.
After being worked on, DeChambeau hit a 359-yard drive down the middle of the fairway on the 11th hole and made another birdie as he grabbed the solo lead.
“What’s that physio’s number?” NBC’s Dan Hicks joked moments later.
