Did you know this top secret about Tiger Woods’ golf equipment?

Tiger Woods revealed a TOP SECRET about his golf ball that very few people in the sport even knew about!

Tiger Woods once revealed an industry top secret about his Bridgestone golf balls, and it’s fair to say very few people in the sport had ever heard about it before.

Tiger let the cat out of the bag when talking about why he made the switch from Nike Golf to Bridgestone – at least where his dimples were concerned.

“What people don’t realize is that Bridgestone made the Nike golf ball for a number of years,” said Woods.

“It’s a great ball and making the switch wasn’t that hard.”

So yes, all those past Tiger Woods golf balls you thought were actually designed by his manufacturer Nike Golf were actually created by those over at Bridgestone.

Remember the Nike ball that waited patiently on the lip of the cup before dropping into darkness on the 16th hole in the final round of the 2005 Masters? Yup, made by Bridgestone. (video below)

When Woods first joined Bridgestone on the golf ball front, he was using a Tour B330S golf ball following some extensive testing.

But more recently, Woods decided to switch to the Tour B XS golf ball, which you can purchase here.

Bryson DeChambeau, the PGA Tour’s biggest hitter and the 2020 US Open champion, uses the Bridgestone Tour B X golf ball.

In his prime, Woods used a number of different Bridgestone Nike Golf balls such as the Tour Accuracy, ONE TW, ONE Platinum TW, ONE Tour TW and ONE Tour D.

So while it may have been something of a surprise to see Woods switch to Bridgestone Golf balls a couple of years back now, when you look back at what was going on behind the scenes it’s hardly a surprise at all.

Nike Golf decided to come out of the hardware market in the summer of 2016 but they chose to remain in the apparel and footwear sector with the likes of Woods, Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka just three of the star PGA Tour names in their roster.

Woods, who once played a full bag of Nike Golf clubs, well, that’s probably for another day, is now sponsored by TaylorMade where his golf clubs are concerned.

The 15-time major champion, does however, continue to use his adored Scotty Cameron Newport 2 putter.

Nike is not the first golf equipment company to outsource the production of golf balls, but it is certainly interesting that Woods chose to reveal such information to the public.

Woods continues to recover from leg injuries sustained following his horror car crash in Los Angeles in February.

He was recently spotted walking out of a car alongside his girlfriend Erica Herman, but pleasingly he was without crutches and placing weight on both legs.
