What’s going on with Greg Norman? Has he just left LIV Golf?

Golf fans have been speculating about the future of Greg Norman after the Aussie removed any mention of LIV Golf in his Twitter biography.

There are whispers Greg Norman’s days with the LIV Golf League are numbered.

It could be absolutely nothing, but Norman didn’t appear to be at the party before their $25m event in Tucson at The Gallery Golf Club.

Curiously, Norman, 68, has removed any mention of LIV Golf in his Twitter handle.

Norman did previously have LIV Golf referred to in his biography across his various social media accounts.

LIV Golf has not made a statement about Norman’s future.

At the back end of last season, there were similar rumors that Norman was to be effectively replaced and ‘moved upstairs’.

There was even chatter that former TaylorMade supremo Mark King was to step into the role and replace Norman.

It was reported that in a bid to achieve more ‘legitimacy’ those behind-the-scenes at LIV wanted to try and move away from the controversy that often follows Norman.

One LIV executive was recently quoted as saying Norman ‘always’ takes the bait and fires back at his critics such as Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

This executive told Golf:

“Every reporter wants Greg to escalate things and he always takes the bait. It turns into, ‘F*** me? No, f*** you! He almost can’t have a conversation without returning fire. Does this escalation behove us? Clearly not. We’re trying to turn down the temperature.”

This comment came off the back of Norman once again criticising the aforementioned McIlroy.

Norman warned the Northern Irishman:

“I’ve always been a fan of Rory’s but my advice to him would be to just sit back, just take stock, watch what happens and watch what you say. Because in the end, there may be a situation where he’ll be asked a few questions that he may not want to answer because of the way he’s come out and been vocal on that front.”

In the end, that rumor was blasted by those in charge at LIV Golf.

Norman’s position was said to be strengthened with the Saudi-backed tour after a flurry of resignations in the off-season.

If Norman has indeed left LIV the news comes fresh off the back of the league facing another legal headache.

Reports surfaced earlier in the week that their attempts to trademark LIV Golf were blocked by a Miami-based nightclub.
