Donald Trump makes bold claim over the PGA Tour-LIV Golf deal

Donald Trump has concluded it would take him ‘the better part of 15 minutes to get a deal done’ between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf’s bankrollers the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF).

Trump, 78, made his feelings clear about the professional game on the eve of him attempting to once again become United States President.

Although he did not divulge any particular details about what he would do in those 15 minutes, Trump is adamant he would be able to get things signed off and completed heading into 2025.

As it stands, the PIF and PGA Tour are still in ongoing discussions about how they can help unify the professional game.

Trump was pressed for his comments on the PGA Tour and PIF while appearing on the ‘Let’s Go’ podcast with Jim Gray and Bill Belichick.

“Well, I’m going to really work on other things, to be honest with you… I think we have much bigger problems than that,” said Trump, who goes up against Kamala Harris in the race to become the next U.S. President on Tuesday 5 November 2024.

“But I do think we should have one tour, and they should have the best players in that tour – meaning you have many tours, but your primary tour, because when Scottie [Scheffler] wins or when they win on the other tour, we have a lot of… there’s a lot of great players. I mean, beyond great. It’s really top, top players on LIV.

“It would be nice if they could all play together. It’s terrible when somebody’s shut out of a major. It’s terrible. But they’re very happy with Saudi. They’re over there and they’re very happy about it. They really are. It’s amazing.

“If you speak to them, they’re happy with their decisions. They made more money than they probably could ever have made. They got checks from, in some cases, hundreds of millions of dollars. So it’s hard to say, Gee, I’m going to be happy because I can’t play in a certain location. That’s not that important.

“But I think it’ll come together. Yeah, I could certainly help, but I could probably get it done. I would say it would take me the better part of 15 minutes to get that deal done.”

A DP World communications officer last month admitted he thought a deal between all parties would be reached before The Masters in April 2024.

Apparently The Donald is going to protect professional golf, whether they want it or not.

If he can do it in 15 minutes, then why hasn’t he done it then…oh maybe he’s too involved in working on his health care plan, or waiting on Mexico to pay for the wall. He’s sure got a lot on his plate…
