DP World Tour pro caddie Daniel Mulvey is due to be sentenced in court today after sending explicit texts to a 14-year-old girl after meeting her at a music festival.

According to the Daily Record, Mulvey, 35, sent graphic and inappropriate images to the teenage girl on Snapchat after he had convinced her to hand over contact details when meeting her at TRNSMT music festival in Glasgow in July 2023.

Mulvey is understood to have sent multiple explicit text messages to the teenage girl along with photo of a man carrying out a sex act.

When the teenager’s family found out about these inappropriate messages, they decided to carry out a sting by recording the texts and pictures that Mulvey had sent.

They then took this evidence to the police.

The disgraced golf caddie allegedly told the girl he was 24 years old when she asked him on Snapchat.

But she was horrified to learn at the time Mulvey was in fact 33 years old and 19 years older than her.

Mulvey was charged and pleaded guilty to sending sexual messages to the teenage girl and making reference to engaging in sexual activity with her between 8-9 July 2023 at a hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court in April.

He is due be sentenced in court today.

Mulvey could now face a potential prison term, be put on the Sex Offenders Register and see an immediate end to his DP World Tour caddie career.

The Scot has caddied for a number of Tour players in recent years, none bigger than four-time DP World Tour winner Guido Migliozzi.

Mulvey was caddying for Migliozzi at the time of his explicit messages to the teenage girl in July 2023.

That was also a month that saw Migliozzi and Mulvey finish T64 at The Open at Royal Liverpool.

“We were disgusted at what we were seeing and even more so when we saw how old the guy was,” said a family member, per the Daily Record.

“He is just a vile predator and people need to be warned about him.

“We checked the guy’s social media and he’s on Facebook and Instagram boasting about how he was travelling the world as a big time golf caddy. He’s got photos from Dubai, Australia, Japan – all over the place, living the high life.

“He’s been pictured with Donald Trump, Gary Player and Bob MacIntyre. But at the end of the day he’s just a low life paedophile who targeted a 14-year-old girl.”

The relative added: “He didn’t back off. He upped the stakes and started asking horrific questions about her sexual experience.

“He said he didn’t care how old she was. And then he asked if he could trust her, which is appalling because it’s just grooming talk. He went on to send a video, where he appears to abuse himself. He deserves to go to straight to jail and he should never work in such a high profile job again.

“It came to light that the girl was getting messages and we had to decide whether or not to shut it down or to go to police. We were aware that taking a screenshot would alert him, so another phone was used to record him.

“He just kept sending messages that were getting worse, so he deserves any punishment that comes his way.

“Who knows how many other children he has tried stuff like this with?”
