Dustin Johnson makes LIV captains and media laugh after “butthole” comment

Dustin Johnson’s 4 Aces GC go in search of yet another victory at the Team Championship.

Dustin Johnson made his fellow LIV Golf captains laugh during this week’s $50 million Team Championship after declaring “some buttholes might tighthen up” if golfers were playing for their own money in Miami this week.

Johnson has made more than $30 million in prize money from the past seven LIV Golf tournaments and his 4 Aces GC side, also comprising Patrick Reed, Talor Gooch and Pat Perez have landed four of those team events.

For those none the wiser, the LIV Golf Tour is bankrolled by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, and in total they have pumped $255 million into the eight tournaments of its inaugural season.

In 2023, a new LIV Golf League will see players compete for an extended $405 million in total prize money over 14 tournaments.

DJ, who won LIV Golf Boston earlier this season, also reportedly signed a contract with LIV Golf in the region of $150 million earlier this year while terminating his PGA Tour membership in the process.

Johnson’s red-hot 4 Aces GC have progressed into the final day of the LIV Golf Team Championship where the winning team will scoop a giant $16 million jackpot later today.

During the captains press conference last night, which also featured Louis Oosthuizen, Cameron Smith and Brooks Koepka, former World No.1 Johnson was asked whether he feels any pressure heading into Sunday given the amount of money on the line.

DJ’s reply made everyone laugh. (video below)

“When we’re playing for money that is not ours, it’s a little different.

“I think if we all had to pony up out of our pockets, it might make some buttholes tighten up a little bit.”

He replied to a journalist’s comment.

“A thousand? No. A little higher, keep on going.”

Brooks then added:

“Add a couple of zeros.”

Johnson previously joked that he really regretted his decision to join LIV Golf.

He also commented this week that he thought he would win even more money.

Johnson’s 4 Aces GC are in today’s final against Louis Oosthuizen’s Stinger GC, Brooks Koepka’s Smash GC and Cameron Smith’s Punch GC.
