Greg Norman to be replaced as LIV Golf CEO ‘as early as next week’

There has been plenty of speculation regarding the current LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman in recent weeks.

A report from Sports Business Journal last month claimed that the Saudi-based league was working hard to find a replacement for Norman as CEO, even though the Australian could still be retained in a senior leadership role.

On Wednesday, the Sports Business Journal’s Josh Carpenter revealed that according to a source LIV is in “advanced talks” with Scott O’Neil, previous CEO of Merlin Entertainments (which runs several theme parks and attractions), with the appointment possibly coming as early as next week.

Per Carpenter’s source, the appointment is “not signed but on the 1-yard line”. O’Neil will also take over from Norman as the league’s commissioner.

Norman, who previously told Sports Illustrated that has a contract with LIV Golf until 2025, is expected to remain at the organization but in a different role.
