How To Properly Repair A Ball Mark

The USGA has a great video about repairing ball marks and we wanted to share it with you. In the following video, find out why it’s important to fix a ball mark and why doing it incorrectly can do more harm than good.

Taking care of the course is our responsibility to the game. It’s recommended that all players are to fix your ball mark and one other. Watch the video and make sure you are fixing your ball marks correctly.

Special thanks to the USGA for producing this video. Thank you for watching and please leave your comments below.

I know that the USGA declared verboten the use of the term “Pin” when describing where the hole is. However everyone seems to be so cowed by the USGA that they say “hole location” when the word “hole” is more descriptive and accurate. At one point this video says something like “when the ball mark is close to the hole location……”. Wouldn’t it be more accurate and simpler to just say “when the ball mark is close the to hole……”? It televised PGA Tour coverage you often hear something like “the ball came withing 5 inches of the hole location”. Wouldn’t “the ball came within 5 inches of the hole” be better????
