Jack Nicklaus explains why he voted for President Donald Trump

Legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus posted a statement to Twitter on Wednesday night urging people to vote and detailing why he cast his ballot for President Donald Trump.

In Nicklaus’ view, Trump has “delivered on his promises” and “worked for the average person,” while being “more diverse than any President I have seen and has tried to help people from all walks of life – equally.”

Nicklaus also believes that “Trump’s policies will bring the American Dream to many families across the nation.”

Nicklaus, 80, won 73 times on the PGA Tour and is golf’s all-time leader in major wins with 18. Nicknamed “The Golden Bear,” Nicklaus also founded the Memorial Tournament in his home state of Ohio and has been involved in the design of a lengthy list of golf courses. Over the summer, Nicklaus revealed that he and his wife had tested positive for COVID-19 back in the early days of the pandemic in March.

In his Wednesday statement of support for Trump, he wrote: “You might not like the way our President says or tweets some things – and trust me, I have told him that! – but I have learned to look past that and focus on what he’s tried to accomplish.

“This is not a personality contest; it’s about patriotism, policies and the people they impact. His love for America and its citizens, and putting his country first, has come through loud and clear. How he has said it has not been important to me. What has been important are his actions.”

Nicklaus urged any undecided voters to vote for Trump, writing “if we want to continue to have the opportunity to pursue the American Dream, and not evolve into a socialist America and have the government run your life, then I strongly recommend you consider Donald J. Trump for another 4 years.”

Shortly after the posting of Nicklaus’ statement, Trump – an avid golfer – thanked the Golden Bear for his support. “Jack, this is a Great Honor. Thank you!” Trump wrote in a tweet he pinned atop his page.

President Trump and Nicklaus have played rounds of golf together on multiple occasions. Tiger Woods, second behind Nicklaus on golf’s all-time majors list, joined Nicklaus and Trump for one round in 2019.

Nicklaus was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States’ highest civilian honor, by then-President George W. Bush in 2005.

Jack, it’s disappointing to hear that you’re encouraging others to support a serial liar, admitted sexual assaulter, racist, self centred con man. Partisan politics are killing the US. Just because you’re a Republican doesn’t mean that a Democrat is bad or a socialist who’s going to kill the American Dream. Trump has put the US at risk through his sucking up to Russia, China and North Korea, and he’s made America a laughing stock worldwide. Trump is a poor example of a human being, let alone of a leader.

People just don’t get it. This is not a popularity contest as Jack said. It is not about whether Trump has past indiscretions. Is Trump the most honorable man around? No, not even close. He has many skeletons in his closet. Will Trump do more to continue this country as a Republic based on the Constitution. YES. Will Trump do more to protect your Constitutional freedoms and run this country as a free market economy. YES. If you are content with putting someone in charge who will do everything possible to take this country towards a socialist state with massive weath redistribution and tremendous government overreach vote for Biden. I just don’t see how so many can’t see the writing on the wall.

You obviously are a partisan hack for the Democrat Party, John. Otherwise, you would not repeat the left-wing media’s words about our great president. What one has done earlier in one’s life does not mean that person should be held to the same degree one is when they eventually mature and become a great person. President Trump only what is best for the USA and all its citizens, regardless of their status in life. Wake up Mr. Nesbitt, get educated, and stop your partisan politics.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I’m a Canadian who can state unequivocally that Trump has done more to damage the reputation of the USA than anyone else in history.

  3. blank

Blimey. The Golden Beat seems a little tarnished by this. Best to keep your politics personal Jack. Whatever your view of Trump, the public is very divided on him and frankly I think America could do far better than either candidate- there’s something wrong with a political system that consistently gives a vote between two such unimpressive intellects.

No winner’s in this election . Just like the last time, and that’s a real shame. I only wish somebody would step up and be a great president, but I don’t even see that happening in my lifetime. Now we’re stuck with two guys I probably wouldn’t want as my neighbors.

Thought you were a compassionate republican
    Seems your not
    Very dissapointed

Jack, you always seemed to come across to me as a half wit, shallow thinking and quite the non-thinker. This act of voting for Trump proves that you really aare allthose people! No one on earth has displayed the golf prowess in all its dimensions that you executed for so many years for the joy and wonder for so many fans. But these talents do NOT in any way herald that you are a person to follow in the realm of politics.
I recall the day that you walked off the Johnny Carson tonight show when he asked if your wife cleans your balls, do you remember? You were so indignant and highly offended! Now you explicity support an individual who is as gross as a human being can be in his approach to women, to the infirm and the poor???
And you commentary is so mistaken in that all the attributes and achievements you credit to Trump have NOT even occured!
Your comments about patriotism suggests that Trump is patriotic and Biden is not??? How blind can you be??
Biden has given a son for this country and Trump avoided the draft by feigning a bone spur in his foot.
Jack, you are a fool and here you prove it. I’m not disappointed because you are what you area has been GOAT, golfer – NOTHING MORE!!

    1. blank

That was Arnold Palmer’s wife that was on the show, you remember what?

    2. blank

First of all Jack is allowed to express his opinion without being attacked by people like you. Jack is not only the greatest of all time but never has he or his family ever been in any trouble, open your mouth when you have raised the millions he has to help women and children in this country. If you want the government to run your life that’s up to you but just because you don’t agree with someone else’s opinion does not make it wrong.
It truly doesn’t matter if you agree or disagree with President Trump the criticism he has taken from the media shows the blatant disrespect for the position of the President of the United States of America. I can’t imagine what would have happened if we as a society treated Obama the same?

Lastly what qualifies you as a political expert? Just wondering.

    3. blank

You are not a half wit but a full nit wit. From the Hunter hard-drive we found out how big of grifters the Biden family was. 47 years in politics living off the tax payers and taking foreign money

  9. blank

I have always admired Mr. Nicklaus as a great sportsman, philanthropist, and proud citizen of the USA and in fact the world and respect his right to make any statement he likes on any subject he feels qualified to do so. Many thanks for all you do for charity and your fellow man.

    1. blank

Jack certainly has the right to say anything he wants to, as does Trump. It is just disappointing when a man of his stature endorses such a pathological narcissist who is ruining his country. Rest assured, David, that if Jack said or did something Trump didn’t like, he’d throw him under the bus in a heartbeat, claim he didn’t know him, call him all sorts of names. Just what you’d do for a friend, right?

  10. blank

Jack no one loves Golf more then me, you have been Super for the game for many years, BUT you’re statement on Bone Spurs is so sad to see!!

    1. blank

Refused to serve, dodged the draft, calls servicemen losers, fights with and demeans Gold Star families. He’s a creep through and through and ONLY cares about himself.

  11. blank

Hey Jack, patriots don’t ignore bounties put on the heads of our military. They also don’t try to undermine our elections with unfounded accusations of voter fraud. Ignoring our intelligence community about foreign interference because you got help to get elected isn’t what patriots do. His love of America and it’s citizens? Are you joking? The only thing Trump cares about is Trump. Kids in cages, his hands off approach to a pandemic, porn stars, politicizing every aspect of gov’t., among many, many other outrages make him totally unfit to run anything, never mind the country. I for one, have lost all respect for you as a thinking person.

  12. blank

I agree with Jack!!! Thank you for your toughtful kind words about our President Donald J Trump! I have voted again for DJT and hoping America get to have him for President for the next 4 years!

    1. blank

Comments about jacks thinking is a no no he was the greatest thinker in the world to get in great positions this world has ever seen.

  13. blank

Self interest is natural but without empathy it becomes selfishness. Jack’ success has been followed with acts of charity but it seems to have been built on a belief system that puts the needs of the One over the needs of the Many. He would call it socialism. Not surprising he is a Trump supporter.

  14. blank

Proud of you Jack, to be able to see clearly through the lies of the mainstream media and support Donald Trump. You said it best, it’s not the empty words but the actions that speak the loudest! Media’s unrelenting lie after lie on Trump for the last 4 years and trying to sway the election now by censorship is disgusting. I am not a white or a Christian but a naturalised Indian American & I hate the corrupt and opportunistic Kamala Harris and Private Biden. Thank you Jack!

  15. blank

Jack……SO disappointed in you! Can’t you tell when someone is so obviously unfit for his/her job? Apparently not………

  16. blank

“Trump’s budget would steer $20M to Jack Nicklaus-backed hospital project”

Jack, you sold your soul to the devil!
You have dropped to the bottom rung.
Arnie would NEVER have done that,
You were the better golfer he he was the much, much, much better man!!!

  17. blank

What do you know of the average person? You like Trump because he cut your taxes. There is a reason people loved Arnie and not you. He had the common touch.

    1. blank

Jack shows that he had no idea of what greatness was/is. Jack, you played golf better than anyone being a great golfer does NOT make you a great man. Ask Tiger! No need to ask Arnie just look to him, we all know.

  18. blank

It is so disappointing when one’s hero turns out to be such a shallow thinker. The evidence is in plain sight from which anyone can draw correct conclusions. Our President is none of what you think him to be, and regretfully has not achieved much of what he promised, and when he did, it was mostly taking the low growing fruit, such as wiping out our environmental protections. I sincerely hope that it is not true that you were “bought off”
by taking a big donation of taxpayer money for your pet project. Just so absolutely disappointed.

  19. blank

Oh my, Jack’s been duped by the master dupster! Jack, please do your homework on Trump and treat this investigation as if you were going to tee it up on an unfamiliar golf course: get the facts!

    1. blank

Even people like Jack can’t tell you what Trumps successes have been, but $20,000,000 to his hospital would obviously get him to endorse the devil himself

  20. blank

Ted, Trump is toast. He’ll be wearing an orange jumpsuit soon. Matches his tan.

  21. blank

I bet Jack is still so happy he took money from Trump. People are so f**king weak.
