Jon Rahm wasn’t happy after a spectator distracted him by whistling at the top of his backswing during the first round of The Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
The Spaniard made a superb start to the final men’s major of the year by making the turn in two-under at Royal Portrush.
Rahm, who hit every green in regulation on the front nine, then made his first mistake at the 10th.
The 30-yeard-old sent his approach through the green and failed to save his par.
That undoubtedly got on his nerves but what a spectator really tested his patience on the next hole.
At the par-4 11th, Rahm turned away in disgust as he hit a wild drive straight into the thick rough.
Rahm appeared to believe, though, that he was affected by a whistling spectator.
“Really?” hot mics picked up Rahm saying. “Whistling? Great timing. Right in my backswing. Very smart…whoever it was.”
From there, Rahm could only hack out onto the fairway and it ultimately led to a dropped shot.
He made par 12 and 13, though, and got one back at the 14th.
