As reported by the Telegraph, the rosters are set for the 2023 LIV Golf season.
Per the report, a spokesperson for LIV told the publication: “The field is the field for this year. And the 12 teams are the 12 teams.”
After the season concludes, LIV will have what they are calling the “LIV Golf Promotions Event,” in which Tour winners and members of the world’s top 200 to compete for a LIV roster spot.
The promotions event is seemingly being done to persuade the OWGR to consider LIV for OWGR points as the committee calls for some type of qualifier event instead of a completely closed field.
“The LIV Golf Promotions Event will ensure there is an open player pathway for golfers from across the ecosystem to gain exemption into the LIV Golf League,” the spokesperson said, per the Telegraph.
In addition to the two spots being offered for the promotions event, the Asian Tour’s International Series top money earner will also get a spot on LIV. Despite the efforts, it still seems like an incredibly difficult task for players to earn a spot, which may be a tough sell for the OWGR committee.
