The LIV Golf League have plans to copy the PGA Tour at their $25m event at The Grange when the controversial tour heads to Australia.
LIV Golf players were fuming in light of the changes coming to the PGA Tour in 2024.
If you haven’t heard, their rival have announced an almighty shake-up to their schedule next year.
Particularly, with their prize-fund boosted events that have been designated status.
As many as eight tournaments will be reduced to fields of 70-78 players. The most notable change? There will be no 36-hole cut.
Those changes sound a lot like the format on the LIV Golf League, don’t they?
Whilst there is precedent for no-cut events on the PGA Tour, it was humorous that they’ve decided to go down this route now.

PGA Tour player Max Homa was one of the few players to actually praise LIV in this aspect, describing this feature as “brilliant”.
Now it appears that LIV Golf are deciding to take a leaf out of the PGA Tour’s book when they head to Australia next month.
That’s because when they play their $25m tournament at The Grange there will be a designated ‘party hole’ for the fans in attendance.
There will be an amphitheatre built around No. 12 with live music will blaring out.
Of course, it’s a nod to the par-3 16th at TPC Scottsdale, host of the PGA Tour’s party hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
LIV Golf Adelaide will take place on February 17-23.
It is no surprise that LIV decided to take their tour to Australia in its second year, given that their supremo Greg Norman is their commissioner.
The Grange also holds a special place in Norman’s heart as it was here that he claimed his first professional victory in 1976.
LIV claim they have sold out tickets for their debut event down under.
Undoubtedly, the crowds will be flocking to see their golden boy Cameron Smith, who joined the Saudi-backed league last year.
It will not be a homecoming for Smith, as he took down the DP World Tour-sanctioned Australian PGA Championship last November.
Charles Howell III won the first LIV Golf event of 2023, dominating on the final day at Mayakoba in Mexico.
