LPGA legend defends Tiger Woods amid tampon controversy

Although the golf at historic Riviera Country Club for last week’s Genesis Invitational was sensational, another story line stole some of the headlines.

On the 9th hole of the first round, Tiger Woods handed his good friend Justin Thomas a tampon after outdriving him. The joke wasn’t well received by many media members and fans, but many others saw no problem with it.

Among those who were unbothered was Europe’s 2023 Solheim Cup captain Suzann Pettersen.

Pettersen said the joke was not “meant to be offensive in any way,” and then described it as a “boyish” joke.

“I know Tiger quite well, I don’t know Justin Thomas as well, but I know kind of Tiger’s humor and that’s a very probably boyish joke between the two of them and I don’t really take it too personal.

“I think that was supposed to be a gag between the two of them and unfortunately some cameras caught it in the heat of the moment. I don’t know, I don’t think he meant to be offensive in any way.

“I’m pretty easy on stuff like that. I’m sure it was meant as a joke, not as a harassment to women in general.”

Pettersen was named as the 2024 Solheim Cup captain earlier this week, meaning she will have the important role for the European team in two consecutive editions of the event.

This bothers people that focus on feelings and fantasy rather than facts. Comedians and jokes are almost banned these days because of peoples sensitivity. Check out George Carlin, Robin Williams on YouTube — lighten up and have a laugh.

A Shakesperian moment. “MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING” explained. I always liked ms Petterson and think she described this event perfectly,
