LPGA star proposes ‘ruthless’ punishment for repeat slow play offenders

Charley Hull has no problem calling it as she sees it, and the 28-year-old has taken aim at slow play offenders at the conclusion of The Annika on the LPGA Tour.

Hull, who finished runner-up to Nelly Korda at the event, was forced to complete her third round in near darkness which took five hours and 38 minutes, and her frustration with the pace of play on tour spilled over into her post-tournament presser.

Following the tournament, Hull stated that threatening to take away player’s tour cards for repeat slow play offenders is the only way to speed players up.

“I’m quite ruthless, but I said, listen, if you get three bad timings, every time it’s a two shot penalty. If you have three of them you lose your Tour card instantly. I’m sure that would hurry a lot of people up and they won’t want to lose their Tour card.

“That would kill the slow play, but they would never do that.”

Hull added:

“It’s ridiculous and I feel sorry for the fans how slow it is out there. We were out there for five hours and 40 minutes yesterday. We play in a fourball at home on a hard golf course and we’re round in three and a half, four hours. It is pretty crazy.”

Hull’s runner-up finish on Sunday saw her move up to 12th in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

I totally agree with Hulls suggestion regarding slow play and repeat offenders, I have watched certain players take 1 and a half minutes to almost two minutes to play a shot and putting is becoming even worst something has to be son about it on all tours
