Miles Russell has become the youngest golfer to make a cut on the Korn Ferry Tour, and he achieved it in his first ever professional event.

Russell, 15, carded a second-round 66 including two eagles to move to 8-under par at the LECOM Suncoast Classic.

The left-handed American finds himself in T26 and six shots off the pace currently set by Brandon Crick.

The Korn Ferry Tour is the lower-tier circuit under the PGA Tour.

Russell was not aware he had made history until a reporter informed him after the round.

“That’s pretty cool, I did not know that,” said Russell when told he had become the youngest player in KFT history to make the cut.

“It’s a cool one [record} to have.

“I’m kind of speechless. The goal was to make the cut and we made it, so we’ll see where the weekend goes.

“People are getting so good, so young, so I mean it could hold out for a week, but it’s pretty cool right now.”

As for his goal for the rest of the weekend, Russell admitted he wants to crack the top 25.

That would get him into next week’s event on the Korn Ferry Tour.
