LIV Golf’s Pat Perez fired a pretty big shot at the PGA Tour in this week’s pre-tournament press conference for LIV Golf Mayakoba.
When asked about his feelings about starting the year in Mexico, Perez bluntly responded:
“I love it because we’re here and the Tour’s not. End Quote”
Perez is referencing the fact that El Camaleon Golf Club was a PGA Tour stop for 16 years before it was scooped up by LIV this season.
Unsurprisingly, some fans in the comments of his video went after the 46-year-old.
Perez is set to tee it up at LIV Golf Mayakoba this week, and it’s a course that he’s had plenty of success at in the past. He won the PGA Tour event at the course in 2016 and had top-ten finishes in both 2018 (6th) and 2019 (8th).

I was just looking at the leaderboards for this week’s tournaments in the sports page. If anyone thinks that the players in the Honda are more enticing to watch than those in the LIV, you are as drunks as horschel’s wife..
The Honda leaderboard had WAAAYYY better stories and golf that on LIV. I actually watched a bit of LIV to compare the product, and I was enjoyed the PGA tournament a lot more. Went to a playoff, both players are compelling stories and the overall golf was competitive and the players were absolutely tested. It’s disappointing that Liv supporters and many of their players, find it necessary to try to dis the PGA Tour so frequently. If their product is better, let that do the talking. Being a jerk is not the best way to win over fans, if that is what they are trying to do. All the bitterness appears to be on the Liv side – really sad.
Pat Perez sounds like a mini golf gangster. Disgusting. Juvenile behavior. No respect.

funny, I find that it’s the PGA that is a bit thin skinned and the base of most arguments.rory,tiger, thomas,horschel.. I can’t think of anyone other than sergio being outspoken dissing the pga..and what they should do is have a ryder cup format with the winners getting the most tv coverage.. the pga would never do that..LIV would do it in a heartbeat..
