Patrick Cantlay not keen on Netflix documentary or this PGA Tour idea

Patrick Cantlay says he’s not keen in being involved in the second season of Netflix documentary Full Swing or being mic’d up during PGA Tour broadcasts.

Cantlay says the idea of being mic’d up during PGA Tour broadcasts is “not for me”.

Cantlay is also not keen on being involved in the upcoming Netflix documentary Full Swing, which is being released next week.

Dustin Johnson was packing on the PDA with Paulina Gretzky when the latest trailer dropped earlier in the week.

And Rory McIlroy reportedly finally snapped at his LIV Golf League rivals Phil Mickelson and Patrick Reed.

Still, this is not high on Cantlay’s list of priorities.

The 30-year-old discussed these topics before competing at the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale in a stacked field.

A few weeks ago Max Homa was mic’d up at Torrey Pines as part of the Tour’s attempts to try and make their broadcasts more engaging.

It went down well with golf fans as Homa, 30, cracked up CBS lead analyst Trevor Immelman when he made a joke about the aforementioned Reed.

What did Cantlay think of this?

He said:

“Yeah, I saw that. That’s been great. Probably not something for me, but I think it’s great that those guys who want to do it are able to give those insights while they’re out there playing.”

And the Netflix show?

“I don’t know, I’ll see about if I want to do it next year. I haven’t watched it yet, so I might take a look at it, but it’s not too high on my priority list.”

Cantlay was rumoured to be joining LIV Golf throughout 2022 but has so far decided to remain with the North American circuit.

He previously he remains open-minded about is future and therefore understands this will bring speculation.

“I hope his injury is not as severe as mine…”

Cantlay is very close with Xander Schauffele, who has been suffering with a back problems this season.

Schauffele joked he probably should have just “remained fat” as it was only after he cleaned up his nutrition that his back woes began.

Cantlay knows all too well about injury having fractured his spine in 2013.

He said:

“I hope his injury is not as severe as mine. I think it’s quite a bit different, and so we’ve chatted about it a little bit but not too much. He has a good team around him, and I think that’s really — when I was going through things, just leaning on my team, and ultimately it’s just down to you, how do you feel and what are the things that you can do to just kind of get the pain to go away.”

yeah, I guess home is the latest comedian on tour. perhaps he should win a couple more events and actually be competitive in a major before he cracks jokes about those who have. Don’t get me wrong, I dislike reed, but it’s sort of like the broadcasters are a little shortsigted when laughing because someone made a decision they thought was best for them. When cant lay and ram move to live and the networks spend more time talking about the joggers players wear more than the actual talent, they will realize their mistake.
