A PGA Tour winner is facing backlash stemming from a post he made on social media on Tuesday evening announcing that he would not be playing in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship due to the host country’s Covid requirements.
Charlie Beljan, a 36-year-old Tour veteran, came under fire for the Tweet that slammed the host country for their policy.
“Today I was forced to withdraw from (the) PGA Tour event in Bermuda because I didn’t take the jab,” Beljan said in the since-deleted post. “This is not the Tour’s policy, but it is Bermuda’s. The Tour has done an amazing job through this hoax. F— Bermuda and all you nazis pushing this agenda.”
Earlier in the month, Beljan shared an informational email sent from the PGA Tour to its players about the event slated to take place the last week of October.
On August 27, the Tour sent a memo to the players informing them that should they wish to compete in the third-year event, they would need to be fully vaccinated or submit to a 14-day quarantine when entering the country as well as undergo additional testing protocols consistent with the country’s restrictions.
Beljan shared the email on social media saying, “Willingly sitting out this PGA Tour event. Kudos to the Tour for giving players a choice! Unfortunately, Bermuda feels differently. I will always choose choice and freedom over injected poison and tyranny! God bless this twisted world.”
Among those to respond to Beljan’s post before it was deleted was Michael Dunkley, a former Premier of Bermuda and current Shadow Minister for Health.

Beljan has been on the PGA Tour since 2012, the year in which he won the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Classic after overcoming a panic attack suffered during the second round. He played on his winner’s exemption and on a major medical exemption through 2018 and has since earned entry to tournaments on his past champion’s status.
In 2021, Beljan made six starts on the PGA Tour, missing the cut in five of them.

Apparently Robert isn’t doing the proper research. There’s evidence of the spread and adverse effects of those who are either vaccinated or not. Through our history vaccines are mandatory and the courts have ruled in its favor. Glad Robert wasn’t around during Whoopi cough, small pox, TB or Polio.

Those you list (including Whoopi Cough) are FAR more lethal than Covid. Smallpox had a mortality rate of 30-90%. Those it did not killed were scarred and sometimes disfigured. You could even add the flu to your list…far more lethal than Covid! Next, there is evidence of spread and adverse effects. Unfortunately for your argument, the overwhelming evidence is now showing that the vaccinated are spreading the virus, hospitalized and dying at a faster rate than the unvax’d. While courts have ruled that vax mandates are constitutional, when all is said and done, Covid mandates will not be included with your Whoopi cough or Smallpox. Lastly and in all seriousness, the anger towards people that do not want to inject an experimental drug in to their bodies is truly disturbing. Never in recorded history has anyone developed a vaccine for a human coronavirus. But we’ve made 20 different vaccines in the last 15 months!?!?!? If you don’t fully grasp that, the common cold is a coronavirus…no vaccine, NEVER! mRNA vaccines were first attempted in the late 80’s. Scientists have tried for 30+ years to develop these vaccines unsuccessfully. You should do your own research but no other mRNA vax exist…only Covid and only for emergency use! Pay special attention to the reasons other mRNA vax were not approved. And P.S. If you have total faith and confidence in Pfizer and Moderna, why the f@#k do you care that I’m not vaccinated? I’m confused? If my vaccination protects me from COVID. What do I have to fear from the unvaccinated? If it doesn’t protect me. What did I have to get vaccinated in the first place?
It’s an odds thing John… the vaccine is not 100% effective, and it seems to be even less effective for the immuno-compromised. But a person with a vaccine is still WAY better off fighting Covid (odds-wise) than the person without one, and taking “the jab” decreases the potential of one’s sickness and its burden on the system (e.g. hospitals, schools, businesses, etc. – I’m not even going to talk about how we still people without a choice to vaccinate). And at the end of the day by taking the vaccine you’re just playing a part in keeping the society moving instead of participating in some crazy libertarian diatribe.

No vaccine is 100% perfect. The current statistics for Pfizer vaccine both injections of well over 95% prevents COVID. Those who get COVID usually have mild cases. There have been several reports of deaths even fully vaccinated but usually have medical conditions . VERY RARE. So, you definitely are better to have vaccine and staying safe (wearing mask indoors in public places) will really help protect your and your family.
Unfortunately the vaccines are not 100% effective and for immune compromised people and some others at higher risk of sever adverse implications (e.g. elderly) they develop less of an immune response. So even though vaccinated they remain vulnerable. Vaccination reduces (not eliminates) the severity and hopefully keeps you out of the hospital and keeps the healthcare system available for unavoidable requirements (car accidents, cancer, …). Please help our communities get this under control as soon as possible.
