PGA Tour pro tells Rory McIlroy to ‘f**k off’ during players meeting following merger

On Tuesday, the LIV Golf and PGA Tour announced a merger that paralyzed the golf world. The announcement came as a complete shock and resulted in a meeting taking place at the RBC Canadian Open at 4:00 PM.

The meeting produced some fireworks, and according to The Telegraph Sport, Rory McIlroy was told to “f— off”.

According to the report, McIlroy was defending PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan when Murray kept yelling at Monahan, “we don’t trust you, Jay – you lied to our face”.

McIlroy responded by saying “just play better, Grayson”, to which Murray responded by telling Rory to “f— off”.

Johnson Wagner confirmed after the meeting that the room was “90/10” against Monahan.

Geoff Ogilvy spoke to reporters after the meeting as well, saying he felt “lied to” by the commissioner.

“I’m glad I wasn’t Jay today. There’s some grumpy players in there. I feel a little bit sort of, not lied to, but just that the tour has sort of changed its position quickly and dropped it on us really fast. So maybe there’s a feeling of a lack of trust a little bit in the leadership.

“It just feels like nobody really knows what’s happening and the players are out of the loop. But no one really ever likes being out of a loop. You know, everyone likes a bit of information, and especially when it’s your livelihood and your job and the sport that you love.”

There are still plenty of dominoes left to fall, but there’s no doubt that it will be a challenging situation for Monahan to navigate as we move forward into the new golf landscape.

Surprised Rory’s not told that everyday by someone.

Seems everyday someone is “walking back” their statement or stance.
