According to Alan Shipnuck from MyGolfSpy, Patrick Cantlay is still “bitter” over refusing a massive offer from LIV.
“He remains bitter that he turned down a $75-million offer from LIV and is now exacting his pound of flesh. But props to Cantlay because he has been the U.S.’s grittiest player at the last two Cups, Ryder and Presidents. He adds spice to the whole thing, even if it’s pungent” Shipnuck wrote.
Rumors in recent months have suggested that Patrick Cantlay, along with Tiger Woods, is amongst the people who are holding up a potential deal between the PGA Tour and the PIF.
When Cantlay joined the PGA Tour board, he stated his goal was to “represent all the members”.
“My goal, being on the PGA Tour policy board, is to represent all the members, both current and future, to the best of my ability.”
“And so that’s what I’ve been trying to do. That’s what all the player directors have been trying to do.
“And we’ve been working really closely together over the last many months as a unit to make the best collective decisions that represent the interests of all the members.”
However, now that it seems as if the majority of players are in favor of a deal being struck, it’s unclear if Cantlay’s stance has changed.
