Phil Mickelson asks for no hate when tweeting his thoughts about Omicron variant

Golf fans respond to Phil Mickelson’s tweet about Omicron variant.

Phil Mickelson asked for “no hate” after voicing his opinion about Omicron on Twitter on Thursday evening.

Mickelson, who became golf’s oldest ever major champion aged 50 at the US PGA Championship earlier this year, tweeted his views about the latest Covid variant.

Despite the wave of Omicron appearing to be milder than the Delta variant – at least according to preliminary studies – concern remains over the growing number of cases that are overwhelming hospitals.

Preliminary data has today suggested that people with Omicron variant of coronavirus are “between 50% and 70% percent less likely to need hospitalization than those with the Delta strain.”

But that news follows on from Covid cases in the United States soaring in the last 48 hours with new infections as the Omicron variant continues to spread, with some states apparently seeing cases rocket by up to 670%.

But Mickelson – who made it clear he is by no means a doctor – wanted to get his point across and learn more about Omicron from his followers… but without causing any hate in the process.

“Serious question since I’m not a dr,” tweeted Mickelson, who has 800,000 followers on the social media platform.

“If Omicron is contagious but not deadly (25,000 cases in Africa with no deaths) why try and control it?

“Why not let it go and let people get it and develop immunity> Especially for those who won’t get vaccinated?

“Pls no hate, I’m just curious.”

Mickelson’s tweet received hundreds of retweets and responses with minutes of being sent.

One doctor replied to Mickelson’s tweet with: “Because our hospitals even pre-surge were extremely full (like 90%+) so even a fraction of a percent that get hospitalized will easily overwhelm our emergency departments and ICUS.”

Mickelson replied with a thinking emoji followed by “thank you.”

It’s fair to say there are some interesting viewpoints in the thread.

I strongly agree with what Phil stated. Someone needs to stand up to the Grinch who stole Christmas.

Phil didn’t state anything, he asked a question.

Maybe if our ICU’s were not filled with illegals we might have much more room …thanks, biden!! REAL good job…

He is completely spot on. The hospital surge is complete BS and the Dr who replied is a no doubt Fauci follower and a liberal.

Really? I know a number of physicians who disagree. Can you show me serious data so I can share it with them.

They are all beholden to big pharma, this is a fact. Hell even Phil is with enbrel.

Filled with “illegals?” Do tell, where did you get that piece of data? I’d like to follow-up because I think it is BS.

If it is not deadly, why are people being admitted into the ICU? Take 2 aspirin and call me in the morning.

If people are vaccinated, why do they have to wear a mask? If they contract COVID, it is milder and the risk of death is pretty much a mute point, unless there are underlying medical issues, which is normal even with the flu. Funny how there were no reported flu cases in 2020 or 2021, just COVID? Annually, just in California, 60K plus died of the Flu each year, yet we went about out lives. If I am unvaccinated, I have a bigger chance of getting COVID from a vaccinated person. People, think what you are saying, have you drunk the Kool-Aid so much so that you have abandoned common sense? Do you research the data, even from the CDC, or do you just go by what the lame stream media tells you? You need to look beyond big pharma outlets to doctors that are not tied to the greed of the pharmaceutical companies. Start thinking and looking for yourselves.
