Stories of Phil Mickelson’s legendary gambling are plentiful in the golfing world, but that is apparently all over.
Some amounts quoted in the past make even the most flamboyant of punters wince, although the six-time major winner has told of “hundreds of hours of therapy” and that he and his family “have been financially secure for a long time.”
Recently, the one player that brought LIV Golf to the non-golf fan has been involved in (yet another) war of words with Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee and journalist Eamon Lynch.
The broadcaster blocked Mickelson from his Twitter feed before receiving an invitation to appear at a neutral venue to debate the whole Saudi-backed controversy and the freedom that LIV players often quote.
Neither man is letting go and, on Friday, Lynch took to Twitter to accuse his foe as a “shameless pawn for murderers.”
In response, Mickelson claimed the author and Chamblee have an “obsession with me (and LIV) that requires professional help.”
I was right (again)
Eamon comes to Brandel’s defense.
You both have an obsession with me (and LIV) that requires professional help. Wishing you both all the best with that.— Phil Mickelson (@PhilMickelson) June 2, 2023
In reply, a parody account for the convicted former CEO of Enron, got involved in the gambling debate.
‘Mr. Skilling’ jumped on Mickelson’s reply, asking, “Speaking of professional help, how is your gambling addiction?” and in classic Lefty style he retorted that he hadn’t “gambled in years,” and was “almost a billionaire now.”
Haven’t gambled in years. Almost a billionaire now. Thanks for asking

This August, convicted gambler Billy Walters is set to release his book, ‘Secrets of a Life at Risk,’ which tells, amongst other tales, “his long and complicated relationship with Hall of Fame professional golfer Phil Mickelson.”
It looks as if Lefty is going to be big news for a few more months.
