Scottie Scheffler has beaten Tiger Woods impressive six-month PGA Tour record set in 2000.
Scheffler has smashed what many deemed an ‘unbreakable’ Tiger Woods record following victory at the Travelers Championship.
Scheffler, who turned 28 last week, captured his sixth PGA Tour title in his last 10 starts on the PGA Tour.
He sealed the deal with a two-putt par from 15 feet on the first extra hole as Tom Kim made a bogey after plugging his ball in the greenside bunker.
Scheffler, who pocketed a cool $3.6m for his 12th career title on the PGA Tour, also strengthened his position at the top of the world with another 66 points in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).
The latest points for Scheffler mean he has now beaten Woods’ long-standing record of 532 points in the first six months of the year, something he set in 2000, a season where he went on to win nine times.
Scheffler has now amassed 583 points in the first six months of 2024.

Scheffler is now the first player in PGA Tour history to win six times before July since late great Arnold Palmer in 1962.
Scheffler’s six victories alone on the PGA Tour this season have pocketed him just shy of $30m in prize money.
At this stage back in 2000, Woods had only won five titles – Mercedes Championship, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Bay Hill Invitational, Memorial Tournament, US Open – before going on to set a new record of nine wins in a season – The Open, US PGA, WGC-NEC Invitational, Canadian Open.
Scheffler will need to keep his foot on the gas if he is to match Woods’ nine-record season (something Vijay Singh also achieved in 2004).

Taking a closer look at Scheffler’s remaining PGA Tour schedule, and he has at least five more events to play – Scottish Open, The Open, FedEx St Jude Championship, BMW Championship and Tour Championship (FedEx Cup finale).
He will also be competing in the Olympic Golf tournament in Paris in August, and he will also be in the US Presidents Cup team in September.

Scheffler now ties Nick Price (1994) and Tiger Woods (2005, 2009) for six wins in a season.
Woods also owns a seven-win season (2007), eight-win season (1999, 2006) and nine-win season (2000).
Vijay Singh (2004) shares the record of nine wins in a PGA Tour season.
