Tense moment between Ian Poulter and Kevin na during press conference

Things appeared to get a little bit tense between Ian Poulter and Kevin Na during the LIV Golf Miami press conference before the $50m season finale.

Na is no stranger to controversy. He was involved in a bit of a feud with PGA Tour pro Grayson Murray earlier in the year.

They reportedly almost came to blows on the range in Mexico. Their squabble emanated over Murray taking a shot at Na over his pace of play.

This was touched upon by Poulter during Wednesday’s press conference at Trump National Doral.

Na, it has to be said, was probably attempting a little bit of banter with the Englishman. But on the surface, it didn’t seem to go down too well with Poults.

According to Na, his Iron Heads GC team mate Sihwan Kim will be carrying a cane for Lee Westwood that he will hand over on the first tee.

“He’s getting old,” Na said. Poulter chimed in by saying that Westwood has been the World No. 1.

Then things got a little bit interesting. “Ian and I are going to be hitting a lot of woods in,” Na continued.

Poulter said: “I don’t carry hybrids Kevin, I have a 3-iron.”

Then Poulter was asked if he was going to “walk-in” some putts like 39-year-old Na.

“Well, listen, you’re talking about Kevin Na walking in putts right? So we’ll see who gets the first one to go.”

He added: “It could take him a while to walk a few in, it normally does.”

There was also an interesting exchange with Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson, which you can read about here.

LIV Golf Miami is the season-ending event in the breakaway series’ inaugural $255m season.

In 2023, the prize purses will increase to $405m. Greg Norman reportedly already his eye on his next signing.

This is how the format works. LIV Golf have also announced that distance measuring devices will also be allowed in Miami.
