Three reasons why Tiger Woods loves his new Taylormade QI10 LS driver

Tiger Woods has a new TaylorMade Qi10 LS driver in play, but what convinced him to make the change?

It’s no secret Tiger Woods is very particular when it comes to the equipment he uses, so it was fascinating to see him put the new TaylorMade Qi10 LS Driver in his bag at the first opportunity he got.

Typically, it can take a few weeks or months before players switch out their tried and tested clubs for new ones, but as soon as the new TaylorMade Qi10 range was available, Tiger put it straight in the bag at the Hero World Challenge in Albany.

He wasn’t the only one either; Tommy Fleetwood, Rory McIlroy and Collin Morikawa, to name a few, have also switched straight into the new range, with Fleetwood already winning with a Qi10 LS driver at the Dubai Invitational.

TaylorMade clearly utilises player feedback when it designs its new clubs, and in a recent interview shared on the TaylorMade Twitter channel, Woods talks us through everything he loves about the new driver.

Three reasons why Tiger Woods is gaming a TaylorMade Qi10 LS driver.

1. Straight topline

Woods loves a clean and straight topline, and you won’t get a much cleaner look than TaylorMade’s new Qi10 infinity carbon crown.

Thanks to a new white line that now blends the face with the crown, the face presents a straight line, which allows you to frame the ball beautifully.

We actually weren’t huge fans of the white line on the face when we reviewed the Qi10 range; however, who are we to argue with the greatest golfer of all time?

2. Traditional pear shape head

We couldn’t agree more with Woods on this one. The pear-shaped head looks absolutely fantastic sat behind the ball.

Different shapes suit different eyes, but classic designs will always be popular, and that’s exactly what this driver is.

We’ve seen brands play around with unconventional head shapes in the past, and Woods himself has played with some remarkably unique head designs. However, TaylorMade’s decision to stick to a classic shape has proven popular with Woods, and we’re going to agree with him on this one.

By switching away from a multi-material crown, the overall finish on the Qi10 LS also looks incredibly sleek and modern, thanks to the high gloss finish.

3. Performance
Forgiveness was top of the agenda for TaylorMade with the Qi10 range, and Woods has already noticed a big uptick in his offline dispersion from poor strikes with the LS driver.

Woods misses the sweet spot? That’s news to us, too.

We have to say of all of the drivers we have tested this year, TaylorMade’s offering has seen a big increase in the level of forgiveness on offer.

Thanks to the increased MOI across the range, the club face twists less at impact, preventing the ball from starting on the wrong line while also maintaining distance and spin.

While we undoubtedly need it more than Woods, we can confirm the forgiveness on offer from TaylorMade’s new Qi10 drivers is first class.
