The Hero could not be saved.
Tiger Woods’ Hero World Challenge will not be played this year due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic and associated travel restrictions, Woods’ TGR Foundation announced on Monday. The unofficial 18-player event was to have been played Dec. 3-6 at the Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas.
“Given the current global restrictions and ongoing developments resulting from Covid-19, the 2020 Hero World Challenge will not be played this year,” the TGR statement said. “This decision was made with the health and well-being of all tournament constituents and the Albany community in mind.
“We look forward to hosting 18 of the top players in the world and welcoming tournament guests to Albany, Bahamas next year. Updates on the 2021 event will be made at HeroWorldChallenge.com and @TGRLiveEvents social channels.”

Woods has hosted the charity event since 2000, and the past five have been played in the Bahamas. Henrik Stenson won last year’s tournament.
The first 14 Hero World Challenges were played at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Woods won five of them. Sherwood is the host of this week’s Zozo Championship, moved from Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan, where Woods won last year.
The PGA Tour’s tournament on Dec. 3-6, the Mayakoba Golf Classic in Mexico, is still scheduled to be played.
