WATCH: Fan at LIV Golf event incredibly catches ball after errant shot

A fan in attendance at the LIV Golf Adelaide event incredibly caught James Piot’s errant tee shot in a hilarious moment at the first ever Australian LIV Golf event Thursday.

Piot, a member of Phil Mickelson’s Hy Flyers GC, shot a 3-under 69 Thursday at The Grange Golf Club.

But, as it appears, he came into a bit of trouble at the par-3 12th during the opening round that resulted in a stand-out moment of the day.

The 24-year-old hit his tee shot way left of the green at the back-nine hole as it was headed for the grandstands.

But what followed, was an incredible showing of athleticism by one fan sitting in the stands.

After it took one hop up towards him after hitting part of the seating area in front of him, the spectator calmly caught the ball in his right hand to the disbelief of LIV Golf’s commentators.

Ball in hand, the fan then raised his arm into the air as the crowd cheered.

It was a scene normal for a professional baseball game, but not so usual for a golf tournament.

Piot then signed the lucky spectators ball, and still ended up making even-par on the hole.

His opening 69 was good enough to place him in a tie for 17th, seven strokes back of leader Talor Gooch.

His team, the Hy Flyers, were in fifth at 11-under, five-strokes back of Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC.

After the bounce, the ball basically fell into the guy’s lap. How is that “incredible athleticism”?
