Zach Johnson’s caddie was involved in a heated exchange with a spectator during the Farmers Insurance Open.
Johnson was in the field last week for the Farmers Insurance Open at famed Torrey Pines.
One spectator decided they wanted to follow the PGA veteran and verbally abuse him about what transpired at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Italy.
Luke Donald’s Europe ran out comfortable winners in Rome and Johnson came under particular scrutiny for his leadership and captain’s picks.
Johnson picked an out-of-form Justin Thomas and his choice to select Sam Burns was also questioned.
The pair contributed 2.5 points to the overall Team USA score.
In the short clip uploaded by Zire on Instagram, the spectator can be heard saying: “We lost the Ryder Cup because of you.”
Johnson’s looper Brian Smith took matters into his own hands and marched over to confront the man. (VIDEO BELOW)
He said: “Hey dude, why don’t you just shut your mouth? You got a problem?”
The heckler replied: “Yeah, with Sam Burns and Justin Thomas.”
Smith said: “Then go talk to them, okay? Just shut up. Don’t be a d—.”
@malbonhunter has claimed he was the person behind the camera.
“Zach Johnson’s caddie called me a d— for dropping the truth that we lost the Ryder Cup since he picked Sam Burns and Justin Thomas over Bryson and DJ,” the user wrote.
This is not the first time Johnson has been verbally abused about his stint as Ryder Cup captain.
Last February Johnson confronted fans during the rowdy WM Phoenix Open.
Johnson was triggered by a group that apparently also teased him about the Ryder Cup.
One person referred to Johnson as ‘Sir’ when confronted.
“Don’t ‘Sir’ me,” an agitated Johnson blasted. “I’m just sick of it – just shut up.”
Johnson was also accused of telling a group of patrons to ‘f— off’ during the 2024 Masters.
The former green jacket winner racked up a triple bogey at the 12th during the second round of the major.
Footage appeared to show that Johnson directed his frustration to a group of patrons that apparently cheered sarcastically when he finally got his golf ball in the cup.
Johnson denied that he swore at the group and described the accusation as ‘laughable’.
He said that the anger was directed at himself.
Keegan Bradley has succeeded Johnson as the next Ryder Cup captain.
The 2025 matches will be played over 26-28 September at Bethpage Black.

Civility would be welcomed at this point. You would think that the dopes behind the ropes would show a little respect for a man earning his living. Lot of stupid out there.
If Keegan is not allowed to pick from all USA players he will suffer the same fate.
A bunch of fucking morons, who cares about the Ryder cup, and attacking the past captain is idiotic.
