It wasn’t done with artificial intelligence, one of his social media accounts said. Though someone had asked the question.
“Real funny,” the account replied.
It also wasn’t made on a first attempt, it said. It took a while.
But then Wesley Bryan dropped the putt. From 144 yards out. Or 432 feet. Recently shared on the social-media accounts shared by Bryan and his brother, George, the putt by the one-time PGA Tour winner could be the longest-ever made.
The video of it lasted just about 20 seconds, and the putt itself took 14 seconds to go from the fairway to the hole. Bryan took nearly a full swing with his putter, the ball rolled about 25 feet left to right, it dipped just before the green, it tracked toward the hole — then it fell and the party started. Shouts. A chest-bump.
Of course, there are some questions, with one being: Is it a record?
Maybe.
In the replies to the post on the Bryan brothers’ Twitter account, the account said they hadn’t contacted the Guinness folks. (The process to verify a record can be found here.) But the putt would surpass the current record holder at Guinness — on its site, it lists a 401 foot, 2 inch putt as the longest to drop. (Notably, the Guinness site also lists a 111 foot, 5 inch putt, by Craig Barlow in 2008, as the longest putt made in a PGA Tour event, and it says a 110-footer, by Nick Price at the 1992 PGA Championship, is the longest putt to fall in a major.)
Was Bryan’s real, though?
One at least has to ask. In a reply to the post on the Bryan brothers’ Instagram account, the account offered the “real funny” reply when a commenter wrote: “AI is getting really good huh.” It said there were numerous attempts, too. The Bryan brothers also practically invented YouTube golf, and they’ve been hitting various shots and playing various matches for years.

Wonder how many golfers will now try to break that record, likely after a few post round brews of course…..
