Rickie Fowler can add snake whisperer to their list of skills after an encounter with one at the Wells Fargo Championship on Saturday.
The PGA Tour is at Quail Hollow Club in North Carolina this week for its latest designated event, the Wells Fargo Championship.
As one of the season’s elevated tournaments, it has an increased purse of $20m and boasts a stronger field than your average event.
Earlier this week, however, World Nos. 1 and 2, Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler, opted to use this week’s tournament as the one designated event the top stars are allowed to miss.
After two rounds, Fowler, 34, had safely made the cut and was five strokes back of the leaders.
On Saturday, for the third round, he shot a 3-under par 68 and was tied for 20th, 10-strokes back of leader Wyndham Clark.
However, it wasn’t without a wild encounter along the way.
While searching for his lost ball amongst a bunch of rocks along a creek, Fowler found a bit more than he probably bargained for.
Fowler came across a snake laying on the rocks, and he swiftly picked the creature up with wedge and moved it out of the way like a pro.

He didn’t pick it up. He just guided it with an iron. No big deal.
