Tiger Woods has slammed all the golfers that have broken away from the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf ahead of this week’s 150th Open Championship at St Andrews.
The likes of Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Patrick Reed and Phil Mickelson have all chosen to join the controversial Saudi-funded circuit led by two-time Open champion Greg Norman, and Woods quite simply cannot stand their reasons for making the move.
Woods, who is going in search of a fourth Claret Jug and third win at St Andrews, went in particularly hard on the LIV Golf defectors on Tuesday and even suggested that they could be out of future major championships as a result of not earning world ranking points.
“To play there [LIV Golf], I disagree with it,” said Woods. “I think that what they’ve done is they’ve turned their back on what has allowed them to get to this position.”
“Some players have never got a chance to even experience it. They’ve gone right from the amateur ranks right into that organization and never really got a chance to play out here and what it feels like to play a Tour schedule or to play in some big events.”
“And who knows what’s going to happen in the near future with world-ranking points, the criteria for entering major championships. The governing body is going to have to figure that out.”
“Some of these players may not ever get a chance to play in major championships. That is a possibility. We don’t know that for sure yet. It’s up to all the major championship bodies to make that determination. But that is a possibility, that some players will never, ever get a chance to play in a major championship, never get a chance to experience this right here, walk down the fairways at Augusta National.”
“That, to me, I just don’t understand it. I understand what Jack and Arnold did because playing professional golf at a Tour level versus a club pro is different, and I understand that transition and that move and the recognition that a touring pro versus a club pro is.”
Woods also believes the huge sums of money that LIV golfers are now earning – regardless of their performances on the circuit – will no longer see them practicing hard.
“But what these players are doing for guaranteed money, what is the incentive to practice?” Woods continued.”
“What is the incentive to go out there and earn it in the dirt? You’re just getting paid a lot of money up front and playing a few events and playing 54 holes. They’re playing blaring music and have all these atmospheres that are different.”
“I just don’t see how, out of 54 holes — I can understand 54 holes is almost like a mandate when you get to the Senior Tour. The guys are little bit older and a little more banged up. But when you’re at this young age and some of these kids — they really are kids who have gone from amateur golf into that organization — 72-hole tests are part of it. We used to have 36-hole playoffs for major championships. That’s how it used to be — 18-hole U.S. Open playoffs.”
“I just don’t see how that move is positive in the long term for a lot of these players, especially if the LIV organization doesn’t get world-ranking points and the major championships change their criteria for entering the events.”
“It would be sad to see some of these young kids never get a chance to experience it and experience what we’ve got a chance to experience and walk these hallowed grounds and play in these championships.”

These utterances are self serving, self righteous, pseudo philosophical, cliche filled, musings.
The fact is that there is another golf-player employer on the world stage, MBS.
The other prime facts are that he is a dictatorial murderer, bribing top level golf players with unheard of amounts of money to help bury and vanquish his evil past (and present) to history. And he is aided and abbeted by an almost equally unscrupulous person, Greg Norman. There is no robust moral standard practiced amongst golfers beyond an honor system adjudicating the rules of play. How shallow they are! Moral and ethical matters beyond that level is beyond their paygrade (if only we all had that level of paygrade). Being used to help “sportswashing” happen is beyond their understanding or care. Show me “the money and all luxury trappings and I’m yours” is their collective mantra!

I always enjoyed Tiger’s golf. But he is just full of it criticizing guys being paid “up front.” Not at all like him when Nike signed him for $100 million before he ever played a strike on Tour. PGA Tour is the ONLY pro sport that doesn’t pay its players—until LIV came along. Now, they’re scrambling to share money with the players that make the empire possible. Sanctimony looks as bad on Tiger as it does on the other guys that are all self-righteous about their peers who have left for the LIV tour.
And Billy Horschel the same. Would he be that sanctimonous if he had NOT won the FedEx cup so many years ago, a win which made winning on the PGA tour an irrelevancy for him, removing the need for a weekly struggle to compete under pressure a thing of the past.
You guys suck with your sensationalizing his comments with a horribly deceptive title. He didn’t “rip” into them. Why must you be so dishonest.
