Will Ferrell is ready to appear in his latest sports comedy, this time all about one of his favorite pastimes – golf.
After starring in films such as Talladega Nights, Blades of Glory, and Semi-Pro in the early 2000s, the 55-year-old has become known for providing spoof takes on NASCAR, figure skating, and ABA basketball.
Now, per Deadline.com, investing in a new project with screen-writer and director Rian Johnson, he takes on a role based on a professional golfer who becomes the frontman for a rival league competing against the PGA.

Having rose to fame on Saturday Night Live, Ferrell has since been awarded three Primetime Emmy Awards and a Tony Award, and been nominated for a Golden Globe on three separate occasions.
Deadline.com reveals that the star of ‘Elf’ and ‘Anchorman’ will make his first foray into comedy series since the Apple TV+ dark comedy-drama limited series The Shrink Next Door, in which he starred opposite Paul Rudd. However, as an avid golfer and major contributor to the charity event ‘The Will Powered Golf Classic’, this seems to be a role he will put everything in to.
After the success of Netflix immersive documentary ‘Full Swing,’ golf has never been more in the public eye and this would appear a great opportunity for even more exposure to the wider public.
Having caricatured various sporting icons in the past, the question is whether Ferrell bases his character on LIV Chairman Greg Norman or Phil Mickelson.
