Chamblee fuming with PGA Tour LIV Golf merger:” One of the saddest days in pro golf”
Golf Channel’s Brandel Chamblee says he was “completely shocked” at the PGA Tour’s LIV Golf merger.
Chamblee has revealed the PGA Tour and DP World Tour’s merger with LIV Golf today marks “one of the saddest days in the history of professional golf.”
Chamblee, a one-time PGA Tour winner and now outspoken analyst and LIV Golf critic, gave his verdict to the shock merger just moments after five-time major champion Brooks Koepka hit out at him.
“Welfare Check on Chamblee,” tweeted Koepka, who just won his third US PGA.
Chamblee in the past has called for Phil Mickelson to be removed from the Hall of Fame following his decision to join LIV, accusing those who signed with the breakaway tour as sportswashing.
Mickelson and Chamblee have since traded blows on social media in recent weeks.

“When I first heard about it I was completely shocked,” said Chamblee.
“I can’t imagine too many people outside of the two, three, four or five people who were in the room that brought this merger to fruition would have known anything about it. After the shock sort of ebbed away, I was hugely disappointed. I think this is one of the saddest days in the history of professional golf.”
“I always felt like it was the athletes themselves who had the power to say ‘No’ to Saudi Arabia.”

Spoke with several @PGATOUR players who were a part of a meeting in Delaware that ultimately reshaped the Tour schedule. Most of those players were offered @livgolf_league money but turned it down to be loyal to the Tour. Those players told me they feel betrayed and manipulated.

How much did Jay pocket over this deal?
and what chamblee says means anything to anyone outside of his family?? I have never understood how he has such a voice on golf channel when he never really did anything during his career.. At least the others on there have done some good things on the course or never played at all.. I wonder if he will now just STFU..
His opinion is a lot more valid than yours. Did YOU ever win a PGA Tour event? Your turn to STFU.
Get over it and leave it alone Brandel! Get the politics out of sports like the Olympics! Stop spewing negativity to the world on Golf Channel or other media sources. Pray that this changes the world, the Saudi people for the betterment of the world. Lesson learned! What’s done is done. Move on! Be kind. Not hateful, that only brings more anger and bitterness. You are entitled to your opinion but standing on a soap box souring a program is just UGLY!
I hope the LIV investors tell NBC/ Golf channel to say ADIOS to this holier than thou blowhard !!!! It was nice knowin’ ya Chamblee !!
Me too. I hope Chamblee takes a job doing fittings at Costco and I hope better broadcasters hit the airwaves. Golf Channel in US could take some lessons from the excellent British guys who broacast the Euro events. They don’t talk about their opinions, they talk about the players, the decisions the players make, and they present info not slant.
I agree. It is one of the saddest days in the history of golf. To have the perpetrators of 9/11virtually running the PGA is an absolute disgrace.
Good one Paul.. u really got me in that.. no I’ve never won a tour event. But I’m also not a hypocrite that ignores the Chinese and your players that play for pay in Abu Dhabi. If he was not a liberal tool for nbc, he’d maybe mention that. But as a devout lib-tard, I’m guessing you don’t care for facts.
