Golf superstar Charley Hull makes shocking social media claim after TikTok ban
Golf superstar Charley Hull believes the world would be a “happier and healthier place” if all social media channels were banned – and not just TikTok.
Hull, 28, made her feelings be known via her Instagram Story after TikTok confirmed it will “go dark” in the United States on 1/19/2025.
The Supreme Court upheld a law banning the app in the United States on Friday, unless its China-based parent company, ByteDance, sells the platform by 19 January. ByteDance has reportedly refused to find a buyer.
The decision to shut down TikTok in the USA today has left a number of social media influencers in a state of shock.
But on the eve of becoming 47th U.S. President, Donald Trump admits he will “most likely” give TikTok a 90-day reprieve from a ban. Trump is expected to provide an update on the subject when he assumes office on Monday 20 January.
LPGA Tour superstar Hull admits she would be more than happy if TikTok gets banned along with all social media channels for that matter.
She would even be prepared to get back to Nokia phone where she can just play Snake.
Despite having more than 700k followers on Instagram, Hull considers the entire world would be a better place without social media in our lives.
Hull posted a selfie in the car with the following caption via her Instagram Story.
“Tik Tok is being banned, to be honest I think we should all be going back to an old school ban, all social media go back to a Nokia phone and live life in the moment. Guarantee the whole world would be a happier and healthier place.”
Hull took to social media at the end of 2024 to explain a number of fake social media accounts had been set up in her name.
These fake accounts have apparently been asking golf fans for either money or gift cards in exchange for ‘meet & greets’ or ‘fan membership’.
Hull admits “there are SO many fake accounts out there claiming to be me.”
Golf social media sensation Paige Spiranac recently said something similar.
Although Hull did not go into further details, she did reveal ‘an incident’ unfolded at a recent LPGA event.
Here’s a look at Hull’s post:
