Greg Norman goes in-depth about LIV Golf: ‘Some of my dear friends don’t even speak to me’

Ahead of LIV Golf’s season-opening event at Mayakoba in Mexico, there’s no shortage of conversation and discussion about what’s in store for the league.

Last week, Greg Norman joined the ‘People I (Mostly) Admire’ podcast to discuss all things LIV Golf, the PGA Tour and more. One of the things Norman, the face of Saudi Arabia-backed league, opened up on was his personal friendships.

“Some of my dear friends don’t even speak to me because of this,” Norman told host Steve Levitt, an economist at the University of Chicago. “That’s their choice. If you don’t want to talk to me again, happy days.”

Norman and Levitt discussed the decision to start LIV Golf, comparing Norman’s decision to what Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer did breaking away from the PGA of America.

It is sad that it has come to this. Life is too short to have these negative feelings into your heart (& Head!). I have been an avid fan of golf for most of my 70 years. I’ve stopped watching The Golf Channel and watch very little golf in general anymore. The way I see it is having these attitudes towards LIV only strengthens any desires the Saudi’s “might” have to crumble our society. I’ve always been a competitor, athletically and professionally, I hope someday, before my demise, we can sit down and watch the “THE SUPER BOWL OF GOLF”! After all this is supposed to be entertaining right! Get over it Rory, Tiger, Davis and the rest of you and just get along and get back to enjoying the game for the sake of all golf fans! What happened in the past was horrible and we will never forget it or the lives that changed due to it but part of having a good heart is forgiveness. The world has enough problems, let’s not pile on!
