Ian Poulter gets razzed by American fans while on the driving range

Ian Poulter was chosen as a wildcard pick by European captain Padraig Harrington, but his preparation was interrupted by a couple of American fans.

Ian Poulter needs no motivation to get excited and prepared for the Ryder Cup, but it looks like his fire for the 2021 matches is already ignited.

While ‘The Postman’ was on the driving range yesterday, getting ready for September 24, a couple of American fans drove across the practice ground in a golf cart.

Not only that, but they had the US flag stuck to the cart and waving in the wind. Poulter saw the funny side of it and beat his chest in response to the cart.

“This is what I’ve got to put up with for the next two weeks,” said Poulter, in a video he posted to his Twitter page. If anything, this sort of situation will make the 45-year-old even more determined to deliver a point for Europe. (video below)

It is the third Ryder Cup in a row where Poulter has relied on a captain’s pick to make the team, however, this does not mean to say he has underperformed on any occasion.

The World No. 49 will make his seventh appearance in the matches at Whistling Straits and he will bring a solid 14-6-2 record to Padraig Harrington’s side.

Poulter has remarkably never lost a match in the singles, which is another reason as to why he could be such an important player to help Europe battle the US on away soil.

Poulter bolsters the experience of the Europeans alongside Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood, while they also have fresh rookies in Viktor Hovland, Shane Lowry and Bernd Wiesberger.
