On Saturday evening, Golf Digest’s Joel Beall wrote a column on PGA Championship contender Jon Rahm titled “Joining LIV cost Jon Rahm his legacy. He can start earning it back on Sunday.” To those who don’t read past headlines, it probably sounded harsh. But if you actually read the story, what Joel wrote was more than fair, not crossing any lines and summing up the current state of Rahm’s career. The Spaniard’s unimpressive T-38 at Augusta National in April marked three years since he last won a major, the 2023 Masters, when the sky appeared to be the limit.
Of course, not everyone was a fan of Joel’s piece, LIV’s Lee Westwood among the biggest critics:

Boy, talk about an overreaction. Then again, this is not the first time Westwood has gone at Joel, as Joel has been at the forefront of the LIV vs. PGA Tour saga since the beginning, reporting and, yes, sometimes columnizing and being critical of the Saudi-backed circuit’s many “chess moves.” The LIV contingent does not take criticism well, an odd phenomenon given all you ever hear from LIV sychophants is that these guys are “rich” and “don’t care about your opinion.” The evidence pointing toward the contrary is mounting.
Golf Digest’s Shane Ryan came to Beall’s defense, and Westy continued to tweet through it:

By the way, in the middle of both of these exchanges was Westwood’s feeble attempt to try to get someone fired from an unpaid role at TalkSport. Talk about a brutal weekend.
Meanwhile, Westwood’s fellow countryman, Aaron Rai, was getting his name engraved on the Wanamaker Trophy, which appears to have a hilarious typo on it as one astute observer pointed out:
