The path to the PGA Tour just got an overhaul.
Starting in 2023, the top five finishers and ties at Q-school will now earn PGA Tour status for the following season, the Tour announced on Tuesday. This marks the first time since 2012 that Q-school will provide a path directly to the PGA Tour.
“Bringing back the awarding of PGA Tour cards at Q-school will be exciting for our fans, membership, and potential new membership,” Korn Ferry Tour president Alex Baldwin said in a statement.
Additionally, 30 Tour cards will be up for grabs via the Korn Ferry Tour, up from 25 in year’s past. The Korn Ferry Tour Finals will no longer offer cards, either, with the final four events of the season now only offering elevated points and purses.
The top 30 on the points list at the conclusion of the year — regular season + finals — will earn promotions to the PGA Tour.
“Increasing from 25 to 30 PGA Tour cards annually awarded to our membership through the Korn Ferry Tour season is yet another sign our mission to produce the next generation of PGA Tour stars is working,” Baldwin said.
The PGA Tour also announced that 10 cards will be awarded to the top finishers on the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour).
Tour cards available through Q-school and the DP World Tour will first be awarded at the conclusion of the 2023 season, with membership for the following season.
“The additional Tour cards available and reimagined Korn Ferry Tour Finals will properly reward more players for season-long success,” Baldwin said.

It’s funny how people and players keep saying that those jumping to LIV are NOT going to change the game..and certainly not change it for the better..Perhaps they should just say thank you and shut up.. With the exception of a few top players, I don’t see how anyone can say that these LIV players have not changed the PGA for the better..Better opportunities for younger players, more potential money and easier win the FedEx Cup money.. Now, the players that already make the most will never say the changes mean much, but anyone that says LIV has not already changed the game for the better should ask the players in the bottom and middle tiers that are working their way up. You know, the ones that play in all of the John Deere and Rocket mortgage tournaments that the big names avoid..
Better late than never. LIV poked the PGA Tour into long overdue action to expand. Tiger money was nice but is yesterday. Worldwide growth is now.
