Phil Mickelson says he ‘overpaid’ ex-caddie Bones ‘$1m more than any other player’ as he breaks silence on split

Phil Mickelson is back as a regular poster on Twitter. And boy, is he back.

From feuding with Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee to having it out with Twitter users over a variety of subjects, the 6-time major champ’s social media timeline as of late has been highly entertaining.

Now, the 52-year-old is even ready to talk about a subject that he had previously kept quiet on, that split with his former long-standing caddie Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay.

Alan Shipnuck’s biography of Mickelson, titled Phil: The Rip-Roaring (and Unauthorized!) Biography of Golf’s Most Colorful Superstar revealed details regarding the split, with the author claiming that disputes over hundreds of thousands of dollars that Mickelson owed Mackay were at the heart of the separation.

However, according to Mickelson, everything may not be as they seem. Responding after a Twitter user urged Lefty to pay what was owed to Bones, Mickelson said:

With Lefty in full attack mode on Twitter as of late, it’s safe to say this may not be the last we hear on the subject.

He should shut his mouth! Bones was and is one of the very best out there.

Why the “quotes” on overpaid. I believe what Phil was saying is he paid 4% more than other caddies received. You writers are always looking to stir up shit. Can we just grow up and be kind for “heaven’s sake “…quote !
