It’s no secret that we have a very mild winter here in the south corner of the United States but did you know there is a certain “how to” when it comes to playing winter golf here?
Whether you are looking to get that “winter golf” feel or you’re simply a wimp because we are all so acclimated to perfect weather… here’s a no nonsense guide to fitting in like the rest of the country during the harsh mood of Mother Nature.
1 – Head out to the desert area and play a round of golf, warm in the sun, but with snow capped mountains surrounding your every view. Â It’ll get you in the mood to feel like you have some chill around.
2 – Make the first morning tee time available at your local course. Â When the possible frost delay hits run inside to the clubhouse or grill and have a hot toddy or Irish coffee. Â Very winter festive!
3 – Play your round using typical winter ground rules. Â Don’t like your lie? Â Pick it up and place it in a more favorable spot. Â No one said winter rules and preferred lies are only for rainy and snowy locales!
4 – Find the nearest simulator and get a round of 18-holes at Waialae Country Club in Hawaii.  (Some golfers spend their winters playing indoors.)
5 – Wear pants while you play golf. Â Seems simple enough.
6 – Hand warmers and winter golf gloves really add that “cold weather” feel to your round.
7 – Turn off your cart air conditioner and crank on the propane golf heater! These things will really bring in the feels of summer but fully engulf you in winter mode because when the heck else are you going to use a cart heater?
Stay warm my friends! 😉
