Tiger Woods’ long-time friend and business associate was heard joking with an officer about the value of the golfer’s putter at the car crash scene.
On Thursday, police released body camera footage showing Woods after the collision on 27 March.
Woods clipped the rear end of a truck towing a trailer and had to be helped from the passenger window of his Land Rover after it flipped on his side.
He could be seen cooperating with authorities and partaking in a series of field sobriety tests.
Leaning on one knee whilst wearing a blue polo shirt, shorts and dark sunglasses, Woods explained that seconds before the crash he momentarily looked down at his phone.
“And all of a sudden, boom,” Woods said.
Further clips, obtained by TMZ, also show the 15-time major champion’s long-time friend and business associate, Rob McNamara, arriving at the scene as the golfer sat in the back of a police car.
Woods could be heard asking for his golf clubs to be recovered from his vehicle. The officer replied: “I understand, they’re worth more than my house.”
McNamara joked that the putter – the Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS – “is worth more than all of our houses”.
Woods explained to the officer that he had used the putter to win 14 of his 15 major championships.
Five-time Masters champion Woods was asked by the officer if he was going to be “golfing at next week’s Masters”.
“Hoping to,” Woods said.
The TMZ footage also shows Woods speaking on the phone before being summoned back to the police car.
“Just talking to the president,” Woods said.
It’s not clear if he was referring to Donald Trump but Woods has been in a relationship with the US president’s former daughter-in-law, Vanessa, for more than a year.
On Friday, Vanessa posted a picture of herself alongside Woods, writing: “Love you”.
Despite the crash, some of Woods’ fans remained hopeful that he would make an appearance at next week’s Masters.
Woods was due to unveil a new nine-hole course and attend the past champions dinner on Tuesday.
There was a slim chance that he was going to tee it up at Augusta for the 27th time.
But Woods has officially withdrawn, with Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley expressing his full support for the golfer.
Woods has also been given permission by the judge overseeing his case to leave the country to seek treatment.
And the PGA of America have confirmed that Woods will not captain the US Ryder Cup team next September at Adare Manor.
