Golf fan left nursing a bloody head after being clattered by a wayward shot from Tommy Fleetwood at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The fan, who has been named as Andrew Summerskill, was left to nurse a bloody head after being struck by Fleetwood’s golf ball. (images below)
Fleetwood was seen apologizing to the fan once realising what had happened as he held a cloth to his head.
The Englishman also signed a glove for him as way of an apology.
Fleetwood was playing his second round at Kingsbarns in the three-course format at the iconic DP World Tour event.
The European Ryder Cup star appeared to have been affected by the incident as he went on to card a sloppy round of 1-over 73.
It left Fleetwood at 2-under par for the tournament and 11 strokes off the pace, currently set by fellow European Ryder Cupper Matt Fitzpatrick.
Fleetwood took 3 points from a possible four at the Ryder Cup at Marco Simone last week.
He also got the winning point as Europe defeated USA 16.5-11.5 in Rome.
Fitzpatrick did not have the best of weeks once again at a Ryder Cup taking just 1 point from three.
But Fitzpatrick has certainly turned it on so far this week following rounds of 67 and 64 at Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.
Both he and Fleetwood now head over to the Old Course at St Andrews for the third round.
The top 60 players in the tournament then all compete at St Andrews in the final round.
Fitzpatrick is playing alongside his mother Susan in this week’s Pro-Am format.
Brother Alex Fitzpatrick is also in the group.
Team Fitzpatrick is currently lying second in the tournament.
The top 20 teams qualify for Sunday.
Football legend Gareth Bale is also competing in the Pro-Am event alongside Romain Langasque.
Bale shot a round of 1-under par on his own ball at Carnoustie on Thursday.
He plays off a 0.5 handicap.
The former Spurs winger and Langasque find themselves just inside the top 50.
