Questions being asked about the security at the WM Phoenix Open after this shocking incident at TPC Scottsdale.
Questions are being asked about the levels of security at the WM Phoenix Open on the PGA Tour this week after a young boy got into a golf cart and drove it into a crowd of people during Wednesday’s practice round. (video below)
The video was posted on social media by Barstool Sports, with PGA Tour insider Dan Rapaport giving greater insight into what exactly happened.
Supposedly the key had already been left inside the golf cart that was being used by a tournament official.
A young boy can be seen sat on the golf cart before putting his foot on the accelerator and driving over a lady’s foot.
A man, who we presume was his father, is seen holding onto the cart as it takes off with a drink in his hand before falling over to the side of the cart.
The video then cuts off with the cart looking like it was headed towards the practice putting green as it ploughs into a PXG golf bag, so we cannot be certain what happened from there.
We just hope nobody was seriously injured from this incident.
“This happened on Wednesday,” tweeted Rapaport.
“Cart was left with a key in it and a kid got in.
“This was discussed thoroughly in the security meeting Thursday morning, as you might imagine.”

It looks like dad wanted to let his son experience sitting in a golf cart….poor judgement.
The kid was as surprised as anyone when it took off as he hit the pedal. I’m guessing there will be some new instructions to volunteers about leaving the key in an unattended cart! Glad no one was hurt worse…
I’m guessing there will be a lawsuit from the woman whose foot got run over.
